Applications Related to Force Sensing

Polishing/Grinding
Precisely and consistently controlling the force applied to the surface of the workpiece, combined with corresponding tools, makes the surface of the workpiece shiny or removes excess parts from it. Without force sensing and precise force control, it often requires multiple processing steps and back-and-forth checks, which is very time-consuming.
Deburring
Applying vertical force along and towards the edges of the workpiece to remove burrs or sharp edges. Without force sensing and precise control of the force’s magnitude and direction, it can easily lead to tool breakage or damage.
Screw Driving
When screw driving, in addition to moving in the direction of the screw hole, it’s necessary to apply downward pressure to stabilize the screw, as well as adjust for shifts in other directions during the process. If relying solely on position control to screw, it can easily cause damage or misalignment of the screw hole.
Insertion/Assembly
When plugging in or assembling, force is applied to insert the workpiece into a designated position or combine it with another piece. During insertion or assembly, the path can also be custom defined for lateral movement or rotation to facilitate alignment with holes or tenons. Without force sensing, this can result in the assembled pieces being too loose or damaged due to excessive force.
